第4章 1-43 ヤベツの遠慮のない祈り

ユダの子孫にヤベツがいた。
彼は、遠慮なしに祈った。

Jabez called on the God {The Hebrew word rendered "God" is "Elohim."} of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!" God granted him that which he requested.
ヤベヅはイスラエルの神に呼ばわって言った、「どうか、あなたが豊かにわたしを恵み、わたしの国境を広げ、あなたの手がわたしとともにあって、わたしを災から免れさせ、苦しみをうけさせられないように」。神は彼の求めるところをゆるされた。

歴代誌で初めてなので王ではないのでしょうが、国境を広げる祈りも神にゆるされた。
地方の地主なのかもしれない。
ヤベツは神を信頼し遠慮せずに求めた。
しかし、神には謙虚なので許されたのでしょう。
